Tommy McEnery hadn't held a chicken before, but the 5-year-old scooped up the clucking bird anyway. "It felt like toothpaste," the Worthington lad said. "The feathers had slimy stuff on it." The scene played out on his first day of Farm Camp last week at the Stratford Ecological Center, a privately owned nature preserve and organic farm in Delaware. |

Urbandale Food Pantry to collect items during parade
Volunteers from the Urbandale Food Pantry will walk with shopping carts in the Urbandale Fourth of July parade to collect donations of nonperishable food items and personal products, such as shampoo, toilet paper, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes and diapers. |
